This suffix does not have a stem *-ttoim-; the diphthong only appears in the consonant-stem forms with *-t'oin (from ealier *-ttoim(i) < *-ttaim(i) < *-ttami), while the vowel stem is *-ttoma- (likely by analogy from earlier *-ttama-). --Tropylium (talk)

- The current evidence I have at hand suggests *-t'oin-ta and *-t'oin-ten ~ *-ttom-iden (though I'm going to have to read up more about this).
- This same alternation additionally appears also e.g. in the word for 'sour': nom. sg.
