Why wouldn’t this be inherited from PIE?
[edit]@Victar, you said this isn’t inherited directly from PIE. Seeing as Proto-Germanic is considered the next “step” from PIE in the Germanic family, and it’s derived from a PIE noun, not a root, how would I be able to determine when to use {{der}}
vs {{inh}}
on these types of things? GabeMoore (talk) 02:25, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Directly inherited means that it only underwent phonetic changes. When the stem is altered, it's no longer directly inherited. --
