As *ph₂tḗr may be from *peh₂- (“to protect”) aptly meaning "protector", so *méh₂tēr may be from *meh₂- (“timely, mature”) meaning either "mature to bear children" or "making mature, nurturer, raiser of children"? -GuitarDudeness (talk) 13:35, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
