Why the reconstructed masculine inflection paradigm for a feminine i-stem noun? Was the template just mistakenly copied in from elsewhere, or is *kostĭ properly irregular? None of the descendants seem to have inherited the supposed masculine endings. Vorziblix (talk) 12:26, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Reconstruction:Macedonian/кост

[edit]

@Vininn126: 1) The source was added as an aid to reconstruction. 2) Not all derived terms are inherited, they are changed and created a new. This is a common type replacement: Belarusian аўца > авечка, Macedonian *кост > коска. ɶLerman (talk) 12:30, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

If there is no source word, how can they be created a new? Possibly from a root but that's not the same as a lemma. Besides, all the listed terms were inherited. Vininn126 (talk) 12:34, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
If there are back-formations, we still can’t create an entry for the root unless it actually existed. The point of reconstructions is to be hypothetical forms that we think did actually exist; not to act as root entries. Theknightwho (talk) 12:47, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
