Maybe relation to *Her-dʰ- (e.g. Lat. arbor) > *a:rd-tei > *orsti is a better version? 5.141.127.61 15:43, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
- @5.141.127.61, 5.141.127.61: It sounds logical. The middle form would have been *arstei, so: *orsti < *arstei < *ardtei. Whether *orsti comes from *h₃er- or *h₃erdʰ- if a PBSl form existed, there would have definitelly been a variant *arstei. As for the vowel lenght, I don't think that the a was a long one.
