Regarding this edit, Serbo-Croatian has:
- véditi - regional word, "to weaken, wane, wither"
- vȅdeti, regional word, alternative form of vȉdjeti / vȉdeti
- vèdeti, regional word, "to please, gratify"

Similarity to Semitic languages
[edit]Interestingly enough, in semitic languages "knowledge"-related words are represented by root "y-d".
So, 'ey-da - knowledge, information,
and with 'v-y' substitution
"vedeti" - "I verified" - in today Hebrew "yadati" - "I knew" - in today Hebrew
