Relation between *vorgъ and *vorčь

[edit]

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to give vorčь (fortune-teller) > Russian врач (vrač) /a Church-Slavonic loanword/ as a related term of *vorgъ (foe) /and its derivatives/. It's certainly synonymous to *voržarь (sorcerer, wicked person) > Macedonian вражар (vražar)(see Online Dictionary of Macedonian), but this does not mean that the two descent from the same root. Both etynoms have later undergone semantic shift and nowadays mean witchdoctor, respectively in Macedonian and Russian, which drew my attention. If you consider it dubious, remove the note in the official thread and just leave the discussion note here. Bezimenen (talk) 19:13, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
