Borrowed from Italian rabarbaro, from Latin rhabarbarum, probably from Koine Greek ῥῆον βάρβαρον (rhêon bárbaron), from ῥῆον (rhêon, rhubarb) + Ancient Greek βάρβαρον (bárbaron), neuter of βάρβαρος (bárbaros, foreign; barbaric).
