- With the Eidsvoll Constitution of 1814, Norway had gained a radically free and democratic constitution that many national-liberals felt was worth imitating. Scandinavism gained support, and a Norwegian–Swedish expeditionary force was formed to support Denmark in the 1848 war against Prussia, but it never actually engaged in combat.
