@Atitarev, which Russian word for Kyrgyzstan should be the main one, and which should be alt forms? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 23:26, 30 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Metaknowledge: The main choice is between Кыргызста́н (Kyrgyzstán) and Кирги́зия (Kirgízija). It's not an easy question. Many Russians prefer to keep the original word Кирги́зия (Kirgízija) over what is now preferred in Kyrgyzstan, including all Russian-language media Кыргызста́н (Kyrgyzstán), which is also the official Russian name in Kyrgyzstan. Russians think Кыргызста́н (Kyrgyzstán) is hard to pronounced or sounds and looks (the spellings "кы" are "гы" are extremely rare) weird. Киргизста́н (Kirgizstán) is an alternative form used in the past but also an easier to digest form of Кыргызста́н (Kyrgyzstán). Out of respect to the Kyrgyz, I would personally use Кыргызста́н (Kyrgyzstán). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:38, 31 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev, that doesn't clarify to me which is most common. If we are to have these entries as synonyms, it would be useful if you could write a usage note as well. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 03:59, 31 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Metaknowledge: Most common is Кирги́зия (Kirgízija). I will write usage notes later. You can make alt forms if you want. I think I had qualifiers or something in the past somewhere, I don't see them any more and don't remember where. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:05, 31 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
