@Atitarev I am inclined to believe that the chain of derivation is защёлка -> защёлкнуть -> защёлкивать rather than the other way around. Perhaps the derivation from защёлкать isn't right; if so, I think a possible derivation is за- + deverbal from щёлкать "to click" + -а (see etymology 3 of -а). If you don't like this either then I'll probably just remove any etymology. Benwing2 (talk) 01:32, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
