@Atitarev Could you review the defns here and at увиться? I don't know what "dangle after" means (it's not idiomatic English). Also, my dictionary only gives the meaning to "hang around" (and doesn't include to "court/woo", although that doesn't mean it's wrong). It also says to "hang around" is imperfective only. увиваться means to wrap oneself up; to court, woo; to wheedle, fawn upon; to follow someone around (due to sexual interest), to sniff around someone (such as a girlfriend), to hang around someone, to chase after. In general, these English words are imperfective, and therefore won’t fit the perfective. It’s a little difficult to think of a perfective usage... Увиться в небо means to grow very tall. Увиться means to entwine oneself, to get all wrapped up in; to wrap itself over the surface of something (speaking of vegetation); to reel oneself, spool oneself, fit oneself (reel, spool, fit sound a bit odd to me, but nothing else comes to mind. It is supposed to mean to get wrapped around a reel, get wrapped about a spool, to get fit around something, the way an empty spool would be wound with sewing thread). —Stephen (Talk) 06:31, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
