The Persian word is unrelated. Based on Armenian and Kurdish words, someone can suggest MIr. *xwanāb (MIr. *xwa- > Old. Arm. xo-, Kur. xu/ū-). I think that they are ultimately from Proto-Iranian *hwaid- "to sweat", cognate with Old Arm. քիրտն.--Calak (talk) 18:16, 17 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
