How could "calf" become "vine" ? The Greek comparison sprout-child seems straightforward, but this looks weird.. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 23:24, 12 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I doubted it as well, but there are other examples which I now added. In any case, the որթ (ortʻ, calf) > որթ (ortʻ, vine) semantic shift cannot be explained synchronically, since the stems are different, u-stem vs o-stem. --Vahag (talk) 09:41, 13 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
