- Sanskrit word reminds me also Northern Kurdish dilop (“drop”) and Central Kurdish دْڵۆپ (dillop, “drop”). Compare also Baluchi درنپ, درمپ.--Calak (talk) 17:50, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

- This seems a derivative of تْراو (tiraw) and does not help us to solve the etymology.
- I think we are dealing with an Iranian borrowing. The second part of տար-ափ (tar-apʻ), տար-աբ (tar-ab) is probably the Iranian ‘water’ from *Hā́fš. The compound can be compared to 1) your Kurdish تْراو (tiraw), presumably with tîr, tîre ‘jet of water’; or 2) Kurdish têrav, têraw ‘well-watered, sodden’, presumably with Lua error in Module:parameters at line 95: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "ku" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E., or even better 3) Avestan tat̰.āp- ‘with flowing waters’, presumably with a participle of *teh₂- (“to melt; to flow”), as Ossetian тад (tad, “molten”) (see Cheung, page 375); a Middle Iranian taδab or the like > տարաբ (tarab), տարափ (tarapʻ). --Vahag (talk) 11:03, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
