The tempting connection with Pokorny 824-6 1.,2. "pet-1.,2. > for flying’ " appears phonetically impossible, because PIE *pe- should yield Armenian he-. However, perhaps an early metathesis (as preserved and mentioned for dialects) or a laryngeal (pH-) prohibited this change. HJJHolm 08:57, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
