Kutchkutch, would this be better analysed as *ekkala + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-)? Also could you possibly post a url of that book page from where you get the Etymology? Svartava2 (talk) 10:45, 19 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Svartava2: The question was more about the surface analysis. According to the reference, एकल- is the stem and -ड- is a nominal suffix, so -उ or -उं must the adjectival ending (analogous to - in अकेला). Regarding the diachronic analysis using extensions, I asked AryamanA at Talk:बछड़ा
Are Gujarati ડ (ḍa) forms related to [extensions]?

Gujarati (ḍa) forms are definitely a more productive development that arose from these.
