@Aryamanarora This certainly is not from Sanskrit proper but rather from a parallel Indo-Aryan dialect which was ultimately merged into Sanskrit during Panini's standardization. *h₁rowdʰós would have given something like *रोध (rodha) in Vedic. It's even changed the non-initial aspirate to a /h/ as we previously discussed. Think this is worth mentioning in the entry? Madhav P. (talk) 14:17, 26 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@माधवपंडित: It is almost definitely borrowed from Classical Sanskrit, the real descendant is लोहा (lohā). I've added some more info to the etymology section for Sanskrit. —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 15:13, 26 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
