@Wyang It's a name created by the people in olden times out of their humour, according to a chef.
In this thread, someone mentioned a legend that the dish was created by a woman when she looked into the sarong of her son-in-law and saw his "balls". Another one made a jocular comment: "If it's called father-in-law's balls, I fear that people would have trouble eating it, for it might be both saggy and flabby."
