IndoEuropeanism[edit]

@კვარია @Vahagn, I've noticed a Proto-Indo-European reconstructed root, Proto-Indo-European *kadʰ- (to cover, protect). Is there another source that noticed the resemblance? Gubazes (talk) 06:24, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Gubazes: ქუდი (kudi) has been compared to and usually derived from the Iranian descendant of that root since the 19th century (Persian خود (xud), Ossetian худ (xud)), but their x- is not compatible with ქ- (k-). Armenian sources prefer connecting with գդակ (gdak), from *գուդ-ակ (*gud-ak), deriving from the Iranian root *gaud- "to cover". Vahag (talk) 08:30, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
