- That would make sense, if "ops" just meant the eye in general, while "ophthalmos" meant the eyeball (a "chamber") itself. RedPanda25 (talk) 18:04, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- The loss of /a/ and short vowel in the first syllable would be irregular, but we have words like ὄψις that have a short vowel in what is most likely ultimately the same root. Im confused and about ready to assume we'll never really know. —Soap— 23:07, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
How is it Pre-Greek if Gaulish for "eye" is "ops"?
