Jia, Qie, and/or Ga?

I believe that the original intent behind using the character 伽 was to create the pronunciation "Gāshī Xiàn" or something similar, as the Norwegian Wikipedia had it [1] until I changed it over-- 伽師 is supposed to be basically the same word as 喀什 (Kāshí) as I understand it. However, the news media is pronouncing 伽 as 'Jia'. The US Army maps use the Qie (Ch'ieh) pronunciation. I am not sure if the qie and ga readings are attested in actual Mandarin communication for this word (伽師). --Geographyinitiative (talk) 01:01, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
