"the Latin alphabet"

is this an actual distinction, or just nitpicking on people's perception?

• would people use 영어 to describe the ABCs?
• what kind of person would say in everyday language, "how do you write your name in the Latin alphabet?"

@Fish bowl: Probably WT:TR is a better place for discussing this. I don't know if it helps but on this page: https://johotogoshinentai.tistory.com/86 they say

자신의 이름을 로마자(라틴 문자, 영문)로 표기할 때, 한 음절씩 분리해 쓰는 경우가 간혹 있다.

When writing your name in Roman characters (Latin characters, English), there are cases where you write each syllable separately.

@Fish bowl: In Korean, it is actually very common to call the Latin alphabet 영어 (English language).

• Searching 영어 이름 (English name) on Naver gives '한글 이름 로마자 표기' 검색, which is a tool that gives romanizations for a name in hangul.
• Found in Talk:한글: "Many people also call the Latin alphabet 영어 (yeong'eo), e.g. 한글을 영어로 표기하다 (han'geureul yeong'eoro pyogihada) means to write Korean in the Latin alphabet."

And here are some examples that use 영어 for the romanization of one's Korean name:

Thank you for the links, but that is not quite what I mean.

I do not doubt that people speak in this way. But I suspect that everyday people do not treat "romaja" / the Latin alphabet as a separate concept from "English", especially since the result of "writing one's name in English" and "writing one's name in romaja" is functionally equivalent. (See also Talk:한글? But since that sense has been kept, I don't think I will push the issue further.)
