@Per utramque cavernam: What more have we on this suffix? Could "-wents" include the active participle "-onts"? With perhaps "-wós"? The Latin form "-ōsus" seems to be "-o-wont-tos" (again some inserted "-o"?). And would Latin "-entus", since it sometimes is "-ens" (e.g. "violens"/ "violentus"), be some more direct derivation, "-went-o-"?
