"Two-riffic" and "tea-riffic"

[edit]

I see that DCDuring has added cites for "two-riffic" and "tea-riffic". I had been avoiding those (as well as "tee-riffic" and "toe-riffic", both also on b.g.c.), because despite the spelling, they seem to be punning on "terrific" rather than using the ending "riffic". Compare egg-cellent, for example, which IMHO is clearly not using any suffix -cellent. No?

As for the spelling . . . this/this/this/this may be relevant. Maybe the awkwardness of -rrific leads some people to double the <f> instead of the <r>?
