Racial slur vs. ethnic slur[edit]
Is the noun really a racial slur and the adjective really an ethnic one? It seems like they should either both be racial slurs or both ethnic ones. —RuakhTALK 19:19, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Pejorative[edit]
Is this really exclusively offensive? It's just a shorter word from where I stand, like "Brit". Should it not say "potentially offensive" or "often offensive"?LaFoiblesse 18:02, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Derogatory in the United States[edit]
the term isn't considered offensive outside of the US, so perhaps the article should say "offensive in US" or something?

- In the UK, no it's "certainly" not... it's either neutral or negative depending on the context, something equivalent to the word 'Jew'. For example "my father's a Jap" could be used and also "I love Jap cars". But "those bleedin' Japs, never trust them!" is obviously derogatory. 88.107.190.14 15:58, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
