Why no mention of debt cancellations? — This comment was unsigned.

Can you explain what you mean, perhaps citing a book or article where Jubilee means something relating to debt cancellations? Equinox 23:02, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Besides the literal meaning of the word, the Jubilee refers to the long-awaited Jewish semi-centennial year [Leviticus 25] in which all debts (including indentured servitude, a.k.a. "release from bondage") were cancelled and Jewish family lands were to be restored to their historical owners. Jesus' ministry and awaited return are both tied to its themes of Release, Reconciliation & Restoration [Luke 4:16-21].
