NB I've changed the etymology to "popularized by" rather than "from" GRRM. The book Upper Skykomish Valley by Warren Carlson includes a picture of the Skyomish High School class of 1929, among whom there is a girl named Margaery Sawyer, and The Barbour Collection of Connecticut Town Vital Records (→ISBN) has a record of a Margaery from the 1700s, so it seems GRRM didn't originate the name. (It may even be too strong to say GRRM popularized it — has there been an rise in use of the name since the books came out? Since the TV series? It may or may not be possible to find stats recent enough to tell.) - -sche (discuss) 23:35, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
