German[edit]

It seems that

  • Lutherbibel spells Asser's daughter Sarah and Abraham's wife Sara.
  • Züricher Bibel (Bibel Teütsch, Zürich, 1534) spells Abraham's wife Sarah, and also Sara or Sara [italics denoting antiqua script denoting a name of foreign origin - cp. Rebeka vs. Rebecca (accusative Rebeccam)], maybe with a distinction of using Sarah (and Rebeka) in text and Sara (and Rebecca) in a introductory summary before chapters. However, the name of Leah is spelled Lea and Pharao/Pharaoh is Pharao.
  • Sarah is somewhat common while Leah is rare and maybe somewhat foreign and Susannah might be foreign (English).
