USA and amerikansk?

Is this any use? Is there any other type of American, apart from USA-American? I don't have any dictionary show this word. I suggest deletion of this article... -- Pbb 19:02, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Why delete? It seems to be a valid Norwegian alternate spelling, that is specific to the USA (not all the Americas.) --Connel MacKenzie T C 18:54, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

I've been checking many Norwegian dictionaries, and still haven't found a single one that mentions USA-amerikansk. Nordamerikansk, however, is mentioned in most of them. -- Pbb 19:02, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Seems pretty distinct from Nordamerikansk, in that Mexico and Canada are included in one and not the other. Right? --Connel MacKenzie T C 19:20, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

USA-amerikansk

I am a Norwegian native speaker, and this Norwegian term looks quite artificial to me. At best it's a neologism, however, I cannot find but a very few web references to its actually being used. __meco 17:01, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

It was added by User:Jon Harald Søby, an admin of the Norwegian Wiktionary and a native speaker of Norwegian. I don’t know how often he visits this page, but you should discuss this with him. —Stephen 16:12, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

It is not very common at all, but it is accepted by Språkrådet (the Norwegian Language Council); see [1] Jon Harald Søby 09:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
