After reading stuff I still don't understand the difference between abbey and monastery. Abbey has a head and monastery doesn't; any other differences? --Vahagn Petrosyan 12:38, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

  • A monastery is where monks live. An abbey is a kind of monastery run by an abbot or abbess. Monasteries are generally either abbeys or priories (run by a prior). Ƿidsiþ 12:51, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
