I was and remain unsure. It is probably idiomatic, but it seems highly encyclopedic. What I think is almost certainly idiomatic is (deprecated template usage) lapse rate. DCDuring TALK 20:24, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem SOPish, but I think it meets the standard of reasonable doubt, given that many meteorological texts define it explicitly: google books:"called the adiabatic lapse rate". -- Visviva 02:57, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
