Rather than

The nurse administered morphine to the patient.

or

Morphine was administered to the patient (by the nurse).

how about (see examples at [1])

The patient was administered morphine (by the nurse).

or (perhaps less commonly, but with some occurences, e.g. [2])

The nurse administered the patient morphine.

?

Misuse of the term? (Either no change to the entry, or add a "proscribed" sense, or add a usage note.)

Or a new sense to be added to the entry???
