- I suppose in the same way that things can be either loosely or tightly joined, though strictly speaking it may be a sloppy usage. 1906: "branches become more and more anastomose until they form a network that extends nearly to the leaf-blade's margin". Equinox 23:03, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- Think of the loops in a mesh or net. One that is "more anastomose" has more interconnections per unit of area. At least, that's how anatomists use it. --EncycloPetey 23:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

- The adjective is rare and I expect most users of the verb would say the adjective is an error and the correct term is anastomosed. --Una Smith 15:53, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
