I don't believe one has to have lived on a base to have been an army brat. The key point is that one was in a military family. For example, in Germany, field-grade (and above) officers often lived off-base, and their kids were most definitely were considered army brats. 12:02, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Agree. My ex referred to herself as an army brat (or was it navy?) and I'm pretty certain she never lived on a base. Def tweaked. Equinox 12:05, 8 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
