The old Webster 1913 dictionary suggests that this can refer to two different trees (the taxonomic names are probably out of date): "1. A West Indian sapotaceous tree (Bumelia retusa). 2. The bully tree (Minusops globosa); also, its milky juice (balata gum), which when dried constitutes an elastic gum called chicle, or chicle gum." Equinox 15:01, 3 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
