Hungarian etymology[edit]

@Adam78, Panda10, Shumkichi: The etymology from English comes with a reference but it actually says "német Bus, angol bus, francia bus". As this is not a spelling pronunciation (the /s/ was phonetically borrowed and spelled as <sz>), I think it's fair to conclude that German is by far the most likely donor (English would have lent <basz>, French <büsz>), especially considering the fact similar infrastructure-related vocabulary has also been borrowed or calqued from German (sín, vasút). — Fytcha T | L | C 16:29, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

And of course also the historical/proximital argument. — Fytcha T | L | C 16:32, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Fytcha, thank you, I've updated its etymology with a possibly better (though incomplete) source (also available online). Adam78 (talk) 18:27, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
