I was quite tickled to notice this word in the Sir Mix-a-Lot video for "Baby Got Back." It showed a magazine article, obviously a Cosmopolitan parody, featuring a model's toosh instead of her chest, with the title "CALLIPYGIAN" across the top. -- 24.211.185.177 17:08, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Insinuation?[edit]

Does the word insinuate connection with the ass or buttocks? E.g., would one say "what a callipygian ass" or "what a callipygian person", whereas in the latter case it would be infered that one means that person's ass? --BiT 04:23, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "pyg" part means buttocks, so one would say "What a callipygian person". --ARBrennan 07:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dinosaur Comics[edit]

T-Rex actually used the word "callipygian" as early as June 20th, 2003. I am as amazed as you are. 173.63.99.228 18:57, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's a very old word, predating the Internet. We could use some earlier citations, probably. Equinox 19:00, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
