Sorry, the plural of caribou is caribou

www.dictionary.com [[1]] disagrees with you. They list caribou and caribous as alternative plurals. s-plural seems to be favored when one talks of specified caribous and the other form is a group noun. Thus:
Two caribous are grazing near a lake.
