The etymology is contradictory: deci- means 1/100 hecto- meaning 100 is correct for 100+ millionare decimillionare has 10,000+[edit]

Does centi mean 100 or 100th?

Centi- is a combining form used like a prefix meaning “hundredth” or “hundred.” In science, centi- is very commonly used as a prefix in units of measure equaling a factor of “one hundredth.” Seannelson1969 (talk) 18:51, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Nevertheless, the word does mean what we state here, as you can find out by searching Google Books. Sometimes language is a bit illogical. People just know cent means something like "hundred", as in centipede. Equinox 18:58, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
