Dutch pronunciation[edit]

@Thadh, Lambiam, Alexis Jazz, DrJos, Rua The Dutch audio file uses /ʃ/, but this is remarkable because one says /x/ in Colchis, from which the word colchicine has been derived. However, I cannot say that I am familiar with colchicine. Does anybody know whether the audio is correct? ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 18:56, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Marcel coenders, MarcoSwart speaker and someone who knows more about this than I do. Listen to a pharmacist-researcher trying to pronounce it, but I clearly hear a G-sound there. Alexis Jazz (talk) 19:24, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This guy can pronounce it with confidence. (Creative Commons btw) Alexis Jazz (talk) 19:31, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Another [x] from a native speaker.  --Lambiam 19:56, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Verschueren Groot Encyclopedisch Woordenboek (1966) →ISBN does not indicate pronunciation with /ʃ/, which means ch is to be pronounced /x/. I have asked Marcel coenders to make a correction to the file he uploaded. --MarcoSwart (talk) 22:53, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add an IPA transcription. Thank you all. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 07:42, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
