@Lambiam, Rua, Morgengave, DrJos, Thadh, Alexis Jazz Is the plural on -en attested? I can only find forms on -s on BGC. However, if this is (now) a mainly Belgian form, the pronunciation might end on /iːr/. - @Lingo Bingo Dingo Contrabandieren appears to be a German word: "Den Fluchenden liess er die Zunge ausschneiden, den Raufbolden die Arme — den falschen Zeugen und Verräthern die Nase, den Contrabandieren die Hände abschneiden" (this appears to be from a lighthearted children's book..)

- According to Van Dale's Groot Woordenboek van de Nederlandse taal 15th edition (2015) the plural is -s, it's a French loan and the pronunciation is approximating French; I have added it, but the rules for Dutch IPA are not very well suited for French loans. I don't see anything that suggests that this word is primarily used in Belgium. --MarcoSwart (talk) 22:07, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've changed the transciption with nasal vowels to phonetic, it gave some errors as a phonemic transcription.
