Talk:don't pass go

1) This is not about receiving further instructions. It is about doing something straight away via the shortest route. In Monopoly going to "Jail" without passing "Go".
In the quotation the meaning of the instruction is to leave town via the shortest route and not via a circuitous route visiting other people on the way.
2) The link to the word "Go" does not explain the meaning in this case. ie The corner square on a Monopoly board marked with the word "Go".

I have expanded the etymology but I'm not sure that the sense is wrong. Sure, in Monopoly it means "go directly", but in colloquial English it is more like "do it right now". Equinox ◑ 16:17, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
