@Lambiam, Rua, Morgengave, Thadh, DrJos This form is certainly common enough for inclusion on Wiktionary, but I wondered whether the lemma should be in de haren vliegen. It looks like around 95% of attestations have elkaar or elkander as the object, but other objects are sparsely attested. [1] [2] [3] Should there be a separate page for transitive in de haren vliegen, or should that be a redirect to this page? (There is also the related in de haren zitten.) I think the current definition insufficiently communicates the inchoative meaning. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 16:31, 12 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think the alternative forms are uncommon enough to just redirect to here, but I don't have a strong opinion. We could give a usage note explaining that sometimes the object is changed. No idea how to ameliorate the definition without making it too wordy (e.g. to have a quarrel with each other; to fight among oneselves"). Thadh (talk) 17:05, 12 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
