Not at all sure about this now, but I seem to remember some very old games where you could perhaps earn "an extend" (in the same way you'd get an extra life, or a continue), which allowed you to play for longer. For example some racing games end if you don't reach a certain checkpoint by a certain time; didn't Pole Position use "extend" to refer to this...? Bubble Bobble also required collecting the six letters of EXTEND to earn an extra life. Equinox 23:31, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
