Drunkenness?[edit]

John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) says that "a red-faced man is often jocularly said to have been served with a writ of FIERI-FACIAS" (evidently a pun on having a "fiery" red face!). Equinox ◑ 14:12, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
