Etymology[edit]

I believe this is not from physiognomy but rather a corruption of the title of the poem "Phizzog" by Carl Sandberg, which in itself is a corruption of visage. 151.205.105.84 01:22, 22 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Interesting idea, but no. The word was originally spelled phisog., or even phisiog. – and the first recorded use of physog is in 1811, more than 60 years before Sandburg was born. Widsith 08:31, 22 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
