Might merit a "derogatory" label, as usually used by critics. Equinox ◑ 17:10, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- That would imply the people using it are criticizing or disparaging the concept of free speech in general. When this is mainly used to mock people who use the right to free speech to defend saying or writing offensive things. Thus, "humorous or sarcastic" seems more suitable. -Cloudcuckoolander (talk) 06:43, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced it is mainly used that way. Must be reading the wrong sites? Equinox ◑ 19:51, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- Most of the usages from the last couple of years to be found in the wild will be of the ribbing-people-who-use-free-speech-to-defend-saying-offensive-things variety. It's sort of become a meme. At the time I created this entry, CFI-compliant citations reflecting this updated usage were sparse, and they still are, unfortunately, because it's mainly a thing you'll encounter on Reddit or in blog comment sections. But the phenomenon has been discussed (albeit very briefly) in a book. -Cloudcuckoolander (talk) 08:21, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
