Etymology

@Ysrael214 I saw your edits here. According to Panganiban, "ginip" is the theoretical root of "panaginip". As far as I know, we have no proof whether ancient or modern that the word "ginip" is an actual Tagalog word. It seems that in Vocabulario, they also interpreted "ginip" as the root word of "panaginip". The reason why I'm saying this is that, the existence of this word is not based on actual attestation, but based on a theory that "ginip" is the root word of "panaginip". And it's a theory that's hundreds of years old. So it's technically not a back-formation, since that would imply that people actually use "ginip" as a word. @Ysrael214: Speaking for the etymology section of "panaginip", even though ACD deduced "inip" as the root, Tagalog lexicography for hundreds of years has theorized "ginip" as the root, so that should be placed in the etymology section as the original alternative etymology. For the entry "ginip", its existence is based on the idea that "ginip" is the root of "panaginip", so I guess that also needs to be explained in the etymology. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 11:10, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
