The moniker was (and is) attached to the champion boxer Oscar de la Hoya for precisely that reason. I've seen it applied to lesser known persons as well. --EncycloPetey 07:48, 29 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
My mum (English, but 12 yrs in Aus and 2 in US) used it in the 1960s of her children, as a compliment for being clever, so probably in the above sense though I never asked. I don't remember hearing it from anyone else (in England) so maybe it is chiefly US, or US & Aus. --Enginear 17:51, 29 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
